Hello and welcome to our website.
At Shepwell we provide an education for young people in the Borough of Walsall who are unable to attend a mainstream schools because of medical or mental health needs. We also cater for young people with a diagnosis of autism and support pregnant teenage girls who are of school age. The teaching staff deliver lessons on site, in the home, and at the Manor Hospital.
It is a privilege to work with such highly qualified, experienced and dedicated staff who work hard to support, guide and motivate all of our pupils and their families to enable them to achieve the success that they deserve; sometimes against all odds.. We are able to achieve this social and academic success by working closely together in partnership with parents, schools and external agencies and with the full support of a highly committed Management Committee who strive for the best for our school. We are passionate about ensuring the experiences of young people and our aim is to be an outstanding school and a lead provider for alternative learning provision in the West Midlands; and in striving towards this goal, we constantly adapt to the individual needs of our pupils.
All staff at Shepwell work diligently to improve the life chances for some of the most vulnerable young people across Walsall. Our pupils, in turn, reward us all with their mutual respect, excellent relationships and demonstrate their determination and resilience on a daily basis. We believe that every pupil has a fundamental right to education and must be given the opportunity to achieve and maintain their learning at the highest level possible. Every pupil has unique characteristics, interests, abilities and learning needs and, through a holistic approach to learning, we endeavour to meet their specific needs.
We are a diverse community and we celebrate the fact that our school truly represents the cosmopolitan nature of our modern society. We embrace young people of all faiths and denominations, and from every geographic area within the Borough of Walsall. We acknowledge the wide variety of family backgrounds that our community comprises, and we believe that every member of our community has the right to feel safe, valued and accepted.
At Shepwell we pride ourselves on the friendly, welcoming atmosphere we have all worked so hard to develop and hope you feel welcome when you visit us.
I hope you find our website useful and informative and I look forward to welcoming you to Shepwell School, so you can experience our unique setting for yourselves.
