Once your child's place is confirmed with us by the Local Authority, you will receive a call to arrange for you to come in and have an Induction with a member of our SEN Team. They will go through all of the things your child likes and dislikes as well as things that will help them in school. This information is shared with all of their new teachers and support members of staff, so that they are able to get to know a little about your child before they start and support them during their time at Shepwell. 

Your Child will be given a timetable with all of their teachers names on and the times of the school day. Sometimes timetables are reduced to start with, but some pupils prefer to come in full time straight away. This will be led by how your child is feeling about starting, but we always aim for all our pupils to work to a full time timetable within a few weeks. 

If your child is starting with us at the very start of Year 7, they will be invited in during year 6 to do some transition sessions with us, where other children in year 6 who are also looking at Shepwell will be attending. 

Your child will meet with the SEN team, Head of Year, some teaching and support staff and join activities designed for us to get know them, for them to get to know us, and to meet children who will be in their year group. We will send out some information for you and your child to have a look through about the school and all the important dates you will need to know about. 

If you are starting in mid-way through year 7, in year 8, 9, 10 or 11, your child will be invited in to join lessons,  and meet their class and teachers. You will also be contacted to let you know when your child is to come into school and what their timetable will look like.
