Job Purpose: To work with staff to ensure that the lunchtime runs efficiently and smoothly. To supervise pupils, making their safety and security the main priority in the dining room and elsewhere around the school where necessary. To assist with the preparation and serving of food to pupils. The post holder will deal with pupils politely and assertively, and undertake cleaning duties in the dining room should they be requested by the Business Manager.
The School’s policy statements provide a framework for all members of staff to ensure the School’s aims and objectives are achieved. Members of staff are expected to familiarise themselves with the policy documents which are available on the School website.
Main Duties / Responsibilities:
To assist with the preparation and serving of food to pupils.
Assist and supervise the clearing away and tidying of the eating area.
Supervise pupils before and after lunch, either inside or outside of the school building, being especially vigilant as to the health, safety and security of the pupils within their care, and in accordance with the School Behaviour Policy.
Attend to accidents which may occur during lunch time in accordance with school procedures and guidelines on accidents and their treatment, reporting any accidents to the duty leader.
Other associated duties or variations of the above tasks as specified by the Business Manager or Headteacher.

· have experience of working with young people with autism and/or mental health

Shepwell Short Stay School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and potential of every pupil at the school. We are seeking to appoint a qualified, experienced, confident and flexible Level 2 Learning Support Practitioner to work with pupils aged 11-16 with a diagnosis of autism or have mental health challenges. You will work 25 hours per week – term time only.
Pupils at Shepwell School work on a differentiated National Curriculum but the vast majority achieve up to GCSE. Life skills and social communication are key learning skills for our young people. Shepwell School is looking for a keen and talented Level 2 Teaching Assistant who is committed to child centred learning, able to support the school in an exciting and stimulating way, can communicate effectively with children, staff and parents and are able to work as part of a team. You must have the ability to work within and apply all school policies and have good knowledge of the SEN code of Practice. You must be willing to work as a member of an enthusiastic and forward thinking team to ensure pupils of all abilities achieve their very best. Applicants must hold the Level 2 TA Qualification and possess good numeracy and literacy skills with GCSE’s or equivalent in English and Maths. Good ICT skills are also essential.
