Planning your transition

What to expect from your transition and start with us at Shepwell

Once your place is confirmed with us by the Local Authority, we will give your family a call and arrange for you to come into have an Induction with Mrs Wilson. She will go through all of the things you like and dislike and things that help you in school. This information is shared with all of your new teachers and support members of staff, so that they are able to get to know a little about you before you start.

You will be given a timetable with all of your teachers names on and the times of the school day. Sometimes timetables are reduced to start with, but some pupils prefer to come in full time straight away. This will be led by how you are feeling about starting, but we always aim for all our pupils to work to a full time timetable within a few weeks.

If you are starting with us in Year 7, your transition may be slightly different as you will join sessions with other pupils also starting at the same time. You will meet your Head of Year and support staff and join activities designed get to know you. We will send you out a pack of information for you to have a look  through about the school and all the important dates you will need to know about.

If you are starting in Year 8, 9 or 10, you will be invited in to join lessons and meet your class mates and teachers. Your family will also be contacted to let you know when to come into school and what your timetable will look like.

Our current plans for pupils transitioning to us for a September 2024 start are below for you to look at.

If you ever need to come for another visit, once your place is confirmed and been accepted, please get in touch with us.
